Junior Sewing & Needle Work

Exhibits must be clean, the work of the exhibitor, not shown before. One entry per section.

CLASS 530

Prizes: 1st: $4.00, 2nd: $3.00, 3rd: $2.50, 4th: $2.00, 5th: $1.50 - Unless otherwise noted

8 YEARS & UNDER

1. Create a picture of a sunflower using yarn, felt, buttons and/or other sewing notions.

2. String buttons on a piece of yarn, no longer than 12". The pattern of the buttons will be the feature judged.

3. Print the word RIDE on craft foam (help with printing permitted). Hand sew around the word.

4. Parents, cut the shape of a balloon from craft foam. Exhibitor hand sew around the outside.

5. Using a sock, make a hand puppet that represents Campbell Amusements midway (eg. clown, such from the duck pond game, horse from the carousel etc).

6. Any article made from recycled fabric.

7. SPECIAL: Dress a teddy bear for a day at the fair (5 or less items, securely attached). Prizes: 1st: $4.00, 2nd: $3.00, 3rd: $2.50, 4th: $2.00, $1.50 Ride Coupons for Section 8 Only: awarded to all creditable entries courtesy of D.A. Campbell Amusements to be picked up at the PAS Office starting Saturday of Fair.

8. SPECIAL: Cover a can with fabric and decorate using sewing notions in a fair midway theme. Prizes: 1st: $5.00, 2nd: $4.00, 3rd: $3.00, 4th: $2.50, 5th: $2.00 1st prize donated in memory of Norma Brooks.

9 TO 12 YEAR OLDS

9. Print the words MIDWAY on craft foam. Hand sew around the word.

10. Create a hand puppet using a sock. Creativity and sewing will be judged.

11. Machine sew a tote bag using non traditional fabric (placemats, towels, etc).

12. Any hand-sewn item.

13. Any sewn item using recycled fabric (jeans, shirt, blanket, etc).

14. Any machine-sewn article of clothing.

15. SPECIAL: Any machine-sewn item, NOT CLOTHING. Prizes: 1st: $10.00, 2nd: $4.00, 3rd: $3.00, 4th: $2.50, 5th: $2.00 1st prize donated by Marion Morton.

16. SPECIAL: Decorate a T-shirt or sweatshirt with a Campbell Amusements midway theme. Prizes: 1st: $5.00, 2nd: $4.00, 3rd: $3.00, 4th: $2.50, 5th: $2.00 1st prize donated in memory of Norma Brooks.

17. SPECIAL: Sew one of the following: cosmetic/toiletry bag, pencil case, jewelry travel bag, reusable lunch bag, zippered bag to store small toys. Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $8, 3rd: $6, 4th: $4, 5th: $2 Donated by Brant Heritage Quilters Guild.

18. SPECIAL: 2 machine-sewn pillowcases. Prizes: 1st: $15, 2nd: $12, 3rd: $10, 4th: $6, 5th: $3 Donated by Paris Quilting Bees.

19. SPECIAL: Sew a pair of placemats you would use for Thanksgiving dinner. Prizes: 1st: $10.00, 2nd: $4.00, 3rd: $3.00, 4th: $2.50, 5th: $2.00 1st prize donated by Marion Morton.

13 TO 18 YEAR OLDS

20. Print the words MIDWAY on an 8 1/2"x11" piece of paper. Machine sew over the letters, tracing letters with the sewing needle. You do not need to use thread.

21. Machine-sewn pencil case or makeup bag, include a liner fabric.

22. Any knitted or crocheted article.

23. Any counted cross-stitch article.

24. Any rug hooking article.

25. Machine sew a tote bag using non traditional fabric (placemats, towels, etc).

26. Any sewn item using recycled fabric (jeans, shirt, blanket, etc).

27. Machine sewn article of clothing. Prizes: 1st: $5.00, 2nd: $4.00, 3rd: $3.00, 4th: $2.50, 5th: $2.00 1st prize donated by Carol Wise.

28. Decorate a T-shirt or sweatshirt with a Campbell Amusements midway theme. Use 3 or more recycled items (labeled).

29. SPECIAL: Any machine sewn item, NOT CLOTHING. Prizes: 1st: $10.00, 2nd: $4.00, 3rd: $3.00, 4th: $2.50, 5th: $2.00 1st prize donated by Marion Morton.
