Entries MUST be hand-done unless otherwise noted. Judging based on the following:

  • Children are to enter grade level as of June 1, 2024.
  • Art projects must be mounted on sturdy coloured paper.
  • Printing and writing must done on lined paper and mounted.
  • Following entry description and general instructions.
  • Creative content and use of media.
  • Neatness, presentation, layout of work, correct use of language, spelling and punctuation.

CLASS 550

PRE-SCHOOL

1. Colour a picture of a preprinted fall-themed picture.

2. Make a design using apple stamping.

JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN

3. Print the word - Fall.

4. Art - Make a turkey by tracing a hand and decorating it.

SENIOR KINDERGARTEN

5. Print the following - I like Fall.

6. Art - Make and decorate a "fall" wind sock using a paper roll.

GRADE 1

7. Print the following - Autumn Fun.

8. Art - Make and decorate a scarecrow using a small paper roll.

GRADE 2

9. Print the sentence - I love Autumn leaves.

10. Art - Make a leaf creature out of decorated leaves.

GRADE 3

11. SPECIAL: Print the poem;

"A Little Red Apple"

A little red apple

Hung high in a tree.

I looked up at it

And it looked down at me.

"Come down, please," I called.

And what do you suppose?

That little red apple

Dropped right on my nose!

12. Art - Design a critter using an apple mounted on an appropriate base.

13. SPECIAL: Print the poem;

"Five Little Pumpkins"

Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate,

The first one said, "Oh my, it's getting late!"

The second one said, "There's a chill in the air."

The third one said, "But we don't care!"

The fourth one said, "Let's run and run and run."

The fifth one said, "I'm ready for some fun!"

Oooooooo went the wind

And out went the lights!

And the five little pumpkins

Rolled out of sight!

14. Art - Illustrate the poem "Five Little Pumpkins".

GRADE 5

15. Print - Write about your favourite Fall Festival (100-150 words).

16. Art - Make a collage showing activities at your favourite fall festival.

GRADE 6

17. Print - Write about your best Fall Festival experience (150-200 words).

18. Art - Illustrate that experience.

GRADES 7 AND 8

19. Print - Write a detailed plan for a Fall Festival that you would design (250-300 words).

20. Art - Illustrate what that Fall Festival would look like.

OPEN TO GRADES 1-8

21. Grade 1 & 2 - Print three sentences describing your favourite time at a Fall Festival.

22. Grade 3 & 4 - Print six sentences describing your favourite time at a Fall Festival.

23. Grade 5 & 6 - Create a poster advertising a Fall Festival.

24. Grade 7 & 8 - Compose a song about fall (use a familiar tune). Label the song with the tune used.
