Junior Art & Writing

Entries MUST be sturdily mounted on coloured paper, hand-done unless otherwise noted, include the exhibitor's age on the back of the entry tag. Judging based on the following: 

Printing and cursive writing must done on lined paper and mounted. 

Following entry description and general instructions. Creative content and use of media. Neatness, presentation, layout of work, correct use of language, spelling and punctuation. 

CLASS 550

PRE-SCHOOL 

1. Colour a pre-printed picture of an animal. 

2. Draw a multi-coloured flower bouquet using finger paint. 

JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN 

3. Print the word - World 

4. Art - on a paper plate, using green and blue colours, show the earth's land and water. 

SENIOR KINDERGARTEN 

5. Print the following - Our World. 

6. Art - Draw a 4" x 5" flag from a country. 

GRADE 1 

7. Print the following - Around the World. 

8. Art - Make a handprint, decorate as an animal. 

GRADE 2 

9. Print the following - We love our world. 

10. Art - Draw and name the national flower from your favourite country. 

GRADE 3 

11. Print the poem: 

Celebrate the Earth 

Celebrate the earth with me, 

the oceans, meadows, mountains, trees. 

I'll celebrate the earth with you, 

the flowers, people, creatures, too 

Let's celebrate the earth together, 

new green grass, exciting weather. 

Celebrate the earth with me. Let's share delight in all we see.

12. Art - Decorate a hangable styrofoam ball to look like the earth. 

GRADE 4 

13. In cursive writing, copy the poem: 

Hug O'War 

I will not play at tug o'war. 

I'd rather play at hug o'war. 

Where everyone hugs 

Instead of tugs, 

Where everyone giggles

 And rolls on the rug, 

Where everyone kisses, 

And everyone grins, 

And everyone cuddles, 

And everyone wins.

14. Art - Make a chain of paper dolls, each dressed in traditional attire. 

GRADE 5 

15. In cursive writing - choose a country and describe all the attractions you would see (minimum of 100 words). 

16. Art - Using an 8 1/2" x 11" paper, create a postcard illustrating the attractions of the country you chose. 

GRADE 6 

17. In cursive writing - choose an international landmark and write about its history (150-200 words). 

18. Art - Build a model of your international landmark. 

GRADES 7 AND 8 

19. In cursive writing - choose a country and write a brief history of that country (4-6 paragraphs). 

20. SPECIAL: Create a poster illustrating a country's flag, dress, food and famous landmark. Prizes: 1st: $10, 2nd: $6, 3rd: $5, 4th: $4, 5th: $3, 6th: $2 Donated by the Edwards family.
