How to prepare fruits and vegetables for exhibition:
l Choose medium carrots, potatoes and beets.
l Choose regular shaped specimens.
l Choose specimens as nearly the same shape and size as possible.
l Cut off tops, leaving only one inch.
l Choose specimens that are free from blemishes of any kind.
l Polish with a dry cloth.
l Choose large onions. Bend the tops over some time before pulling so that the tops will stop growing after pulling, allow the onions to dry in the sun. DO NOT PEEL.
l Choose large squash.
l Potatoes must not be washed.
l Pumpkins and squash must have stems on.
l Both green and red tomatoes must have calyx intact.
l Please use sturdy plates to display. Please put your age on every tag.
